In 45 years of coaching, Jack Butcher won 806 games, the most in Indiana high school basketball history.  His legacy in Loogootee remains.  CGS.

sweet revenge

South Spencer had lost its two previous meetings with Forest Park.  But this was the Sectional Final and all bets were off.  You see, it's really tough to defeat a team three times in one season.  So, with a smothering defense, timely offense and rock steady free throw shooting the Rebels earned their first Sectional crown since 1998 and punched their ticket to the Regionals in Paoli.  CGS.

union school, west college corner

If it can be said that the game of basketball brings people together then the gym at Union School does just that - by uniting two states at the mid-court stripe. In what someone thought was a good idea, the school (that at one time served high schoolers from West College Corner, IN and College Corner, OH) was built right on the state line.  Half in Indiana and half in Ohio, with a door for each state.  A good idea until they realized that they needed 3 boards to oversee the school - one from Indiana, one from Ohio and a combined board to make final decisions. The formation of Union County High School created a new set of problems as most of the high school age students were from Indiana. The solution - allow the Buckeyes to become temporary Hoosiers. The old Union gym even has an Indiana storage room and an Ohio one;  thankfully the court and stage are shared by all.  Before leaving the school I did have one final question - why does the flag hang in Indiana and the scoreboard in Ohio? CGS.
